Ikea VITTSJO Green & Gold Ottoman Hack
Some Ikea hacks you just look at and can’t believe they started off as Ikea products. This stunning ottoman, with green velvet upholstery, is one such hack.
The legs of the frame have been spray-painted gold (a can of gold spray paint will quickly become your must-have tool for Ikea hacks).
Accessorized with some coffee table books and magazines, this really looks gorgeous, especially against the backdrop of that lovely pixelated rug!
Ikea MALM Black & White Dresser Hack
Black & white furniture can become bold statements in a room and this Ikea MALM hack is no exception.
Combined with the red accessories and eclectic look it really transforms the space.
Ikea KURA Colorful Bed and Den Hack
I love this kids bedroom, it’s so colorful and stimulating. The combination of colors is excellent and the Ikea KURA bed has been hacked to create a cozy den underneath.
The side panel of the bed also has a floral decal that ties in all the colors of the room. Creating the emerald curtain can be done with some basic sewing skills and some curtain hanging chord.
Overall, this is a stunning kids room!
Ikea EKBY VALTER Cage Light Wall Sconce Hack
This is a simple, yet stylish Ikea hack that combines an EKBY VALTER shelf bracket and a cage light. The cage light shown is not Ikea but you can use the BRUNSTA cage lights from Ikea instead.
Just to switch it up a bit, you could also get a more colorful cable and perhaps a squirrel cage bulb!
Ikea BILLY Cane Door Cabinet Hack
The addition of cane doors to this painted Ikea BILLY shelving creates a beautiful, stylish cabinet. They have added cane webbing inserts to the doors for a natural look.
This would work well in a kitchen, as a wardrobe, a mudroom cabinet, in fact almost anywhere.
Ikea KOLDBY Cow Hide Ottoman Hack
The stunning Ikea hacks just keep coming. This genius use of the KOLDBY cow hide creates a standout piece of furniture for any living room.
They have added some stylish black tapered legs to give it a mid century appeal.
It works just as well as a coffee table as it does an ottoman, but also a spare seat! Versatility is a great attribute for a piece of furniture!
All you need are some awesome coffee table books and stylish tray!
Ikea KALLAX Gray and Leather Cubby Hack
The combination of gray painted KALLAX frame and leather-effect pull out draws is stunning in this Ikea hack.
I love the way this piece sits wonderfully well in it’s surroundings.
We can’t find the Dompen coconut palm inserts anymore, but we did find the amazing fabric basket inserts below which would work beautifully.
Ikea FLADIS Dipped Basket Hack
A really simple Ikea hack, but nonetheless awesome! Just by painting the bottom half of the FLADIS and adding some pompoms a new, unique storage basket has been created.
This could be used as toy storage, laundry basket or flower pot. You can vary the look with different colors to suit the circumstance.
The simplicity of the hack also makes it so accessible for any level of DIY skill.
Ikea KURA Double House Bunk Hack
If you have twins, or just toddlers close in age, this gorgeous Ikea KURA hack will probably make their world unbelievably amazing!
It may involve a bit of work but just imagine the fun they will have in it! They could even have friends over for a sleepover with the extra mattresses.
Ikea KALLAX Drinks Cabinet Hack
Ok, you’ve made it this far so we’ll reward you with a gorgeous little drinks cabinet hack!
Just the addition of some gold tipped tapered legs and appropriate accessories transforms this KALLAX unit into something super stylish.
Mine’s a G&T thanks!
Ikea BEGAVNING Glass Bell Jar Lights Hack
Is it a hack, or is it just some fairy lights shoved in a BEGAVNING bell jar? Who cares! It looks stunning!
Have a few of these with various shiny/glittery/lighted things inside and you’ll create a gorgeous display for any event of the year, or just an every day display because… why not!?
Ikea LACK Mirrored Side Table Hack
My favorite Ikea hack, this perspex-covered LACK table is pure genius. This would be hundreds of dollars if it were a big brand name!
The slightly smoked effect adds a little uniqueness to it.
Ikea BILLY Glass Door Cabinet Hack
Another Ikea hack where you can’t believe it started off as a….BILLY in this case! The addition of the black frmaed glass doors totally transforms it.
This would work so well as part of a Scandi style kitchen.
The fiddle leaf fig does look good in front of it too!
Ikea ALEX Gold Painted Desk Hack
The Ikea ALEX desk is already a lovely desk, but by getting out that gold spray can again this desk has been transformed into something a little more glamorous.
Why shouldn’t your workspace be gorgeous!?
Ikea MALM Rust Fronted Dresser Hack
This Ikea hack is simply some decals stuck to the front of a MALM dresser, but the decals happen to be a really stylish industrial rust effect.
There are so many places out there that offer specially made decals for Ikea products that come in a huge variety of styles.
Ikea BEKVAM Kids Learning Tower Hack
This genius Ikea hack is a must for toddlers who always seem to want to be involved in everything you do.
Encourage the next generation of celebrity chefs with this learning tower hack that uses BEKVAM stools to give your toddlers a safe step up to the kitchen work surface.
Ikea STOCKHOLM Gold Inlay Sideboard Hack
The STOCKHOLM sideboard is one of Ikea’s best pieces of furniture, but even it is not immune to a hack!
To be fair, this really does add a whole new level of style to it with gold inlay-effect tape and short hairpin legs.
Ikea MALM Loft Eaves Storage Drawers Hack
If you have ended up with dead space in your loft conversion, why not use MALM dressers to make the most of it as storage?
This excellent Ikea hack does just that by building them in to the wall so that they become an integral part of the room decor.
Ikea VITTSJO Gold Shelving Hack
I hope you haven’t run out of gold spray paint yet?
This wonderful Ikea hack uses a VITTSJO shelf, gold spray paint and some marble effect adhesive vinyl to create a stunning, elegant shelving unit to display all your favorite tat (I mean delightful accessories!)
Ikea Pendant Death Star Light Hack
Aha! Now we’re talking! This rather clever Ikea hack uses a PS 2014 Light fitting to create an exploding Death Star!
Can you imagine the face of a young star wars fan when he walks in to his room and sees this!?
Ikea APPLARO Folding Outdoor Table Hack
More of a practical Ikea hack this one, but still looks great. By switching the location of the table tops on this APPLARO outdoor dining table they have been able to create a table that folds up against a wall.
A great space saving design and perfect for a morning coffee on the deck!
Ikea MALM Gold Trim Dresser Hack
A really simple Ikea hack. This MALM dresser has had gold adhesive vinyl stuck to the strip of wood above each handle. Simple, but extremely effective in creating a glamorous look.
No gold spray paint required!
Ikea VIRSERUM Wainscoting and Picture Ledge Hack
This a a really clever, really sneaky way to transform a wall from bland to exclusive with a simple Ikea hack.
VIRSERUM picture frames have simply been stuck to the wall and painted the same color as the wall to create high-end wainscoting.
Adding the MOSSLANDA picture ledge above it provides the perfect location for your best artwork.
Ikea KALLAX Kids Train/Lego Play Table Hack
I think the kids Ikea hacks are the most fun. Just the look on their faces when you present something awesome to them.
This train set/LEGO table is truly awesome! It might not be much to look at, but that’s not the point. It provides the perfect play and storage area for LEGO, train sets, board games, crafts.
I would probably add lockable castors on the bottom so it doesn’t move around when they’re playing on it.
Ikea BILLY Library Bookcase and Ladder Hack
This is the big money Ikea hack! Who doesn’t want a bespoke library with ladder in their living room!?
The BILLY bookcase makes it so much easier to create this custom built-in look.
Ikea LINNMON Marble Desk Hack
Another super-stylish desk that will make you feel good while working (or at least it will try).
This Ikea hack uses marble effect adhesive vinyl on a LINNMON desk top. This then sits on LERBERG trestle legs.
Simple, but amazingly effective!
Ikea FADO ‘Mr Moon’ Lamp Hack
Such a cute Ikea hack with just a spnge and a sharpie! This would make a great night light for a nursery and it all starts off with a very basic Ikea FADO lamp.
If you want to make something more unique, you could come up with your own face design. Perhaps a beret and a monocle?
Ikea MALM Mirrored Dresser Hack
Alright, I’ll be honest, this isn’t actually an Ikea hack. They had this specially made as a one off.
I believe you could still recreate it though with some mirrored adhesive vinyl and a (very) steady hand.
It would be incredible wouldn’t it?
Ikea ALEX/KALLAX/LACK Multi-function Desk Hack
I think this Ikea hack resonates with me because of it’s practicality. The combination of three or four different Ikea products to create the ultimate workspace is genius in it’s creation.
The fact that everything is white helps tie it all together perfectly.
Ikea IVAR Painted Wall Cabinets Hack
The IVAR is such a versatile product that you could create so many different pieces of furniture with it. In this case the cabinets have been fixed to a wall to create the canvas for a stunning mural.
The world (or IVAR canvas) is your oyster for this hack, you could even let the kids go crazy on it with paint brushes (too much?)
Ikea DUKTIG Glam Play Kitchen Hack
The DUKTIG is a great play kitchen at a great price, but with the remainder of that gold spray can it can be upgraded to a more glamorous version easily.
The addition of some LED down lights adds another layer of sophistication.
Ikea STEFAN Sunken Chair Clothes Horse Hack
The creativity of this Ikea hack is what makes it stand out for me. The effect of chairs ‘sunken’ into the wall is unique and provides the perfect clothes horse for your next day’s outfit.
If you have a hand saw, it’s also a very easy Ikea hack!
Ikea KALLAX Glam Console Table Hack
Stylkea is a great source of Ikea decorative panels that you can simply stick onto specific Ikea products.
This particular Ikea hack uses mirrored stencil panels on a black background to create a really glamorous console table (along with some rather elegant tapered legs).
Who would believe you when you told them it was an Ikea KALLAX unit?
Ikea KALLAX Window Seat Hack
This is such a great way to create a comfy window seat. You can even get the seat part made for you by Tonic Living if you don’t want to do it yourself!
The leather effect baskets are a great compliment to the pinstripe seat.
Ikea PAX Walk In Closet Hack
This is a really impressive Ikea hack that took a little bit of effort to create. The base of the closet is an Ikea PAX wardrobe and they have built the rest of it around that.
The finished closet looks completely bespoke, but would have been far more difficult without the PAX wardrobe to start it off.
I’ve had a lot of fun putting this list together as I believe every single one of these Ikea hacks is a wonderful example of what is possible when you decide to customize Ikea furniture.
I hope you’ve found inspiration for your own Ikea hack project here, whatever it is that you need in your home.
